A rain gutter is a narrow channel, or trough, forming the component of a roof system which collects and diverts rainwater shed by the roof. A downspout collects that watter and gets it down to the ground in a controlled manner, where it then empties on a splash block. The splash block is a block placed to prevent the erosion of soil around a structure due to the flow of rainwater.
